So I've been thinking...

I have been thinking lately about my business, my time spent at the computer, and what kind of business I ultimately want to have. My dream is to have my own shop in Portland. I would like for is to have something to do with fabric. It could be a cute fabric shop, where I also sell my items. It could be a shop where I sell my items and other locally made items. (This would be so great!) I don't need to be rich, but I'd like to bring in enough money to pay for excellent schooling for Eleanor, to have some extra play money, and to save.

I love sewing and making things for people. But I think I am going to focus on local business for awhile. Selling on Hyena Cart is great, but I don't get to see those people. One of the reasons I love making things for people is because I get to see them using or wearing what I made them. And I get to see how much they love it. I'm also not wanting to contribute to the gas consumption and energy used to ship my cloth bags all over the world.

I'm going to make some new goals for eleanor bean. I'd like to have some local shops sell my items. I'm also going to try very hard to get into Saturday Market once I get to Portland. And I can sell at local craft shows and such. I will still keep this blog, since I own the web address and it will be on business cards. Plus I think it is good to have some web presence. I was thinking of trying to the Holiday Market here, but I need to call and find out the requirements to get in.

So for now, I need to finish up all of my projects and trades on the table. Then I can sew some samples and shop them around Eugene and Portland. I'd also like to try Salem and maybe Bend. It feels good to have a plan, even if that plan changes from time to time.

If you are ever in need of something eleanor bean though, please drop me an email and let me know. I won't turn away a customer in need. ;)

Reading this, the question that kept coming to mind was "Do you know Shayla?" Her MDC handle is exquisitebones, and she rarely posts anymore, but she started her own store in Vancouver selling her own and other mama-made items. Might be a place for your stuff, and also someone to talk to about your goals.

And I love your wish to sell locally and see people using your stuff. I think somehow that makes it more real.
